So many things to say...so little time to post

Ok, so here's the thing. I am overwhlemed some days and while I would adore to continue...or restart blogging from the pug perspective...well, I can't!!! I am just not that talented with translating Pugspeak to Humanspeak! it just takes too many of my brain cells!! so hopefully you will all forgive my transgressions if you will and allow me to post as myself ...and just rant and rave about pugs and our Pug Circus!!!

I have not posted lately because I have been busy...and frankly, if I even allowed it to cross my mind, I made excuses not to post!!! I am disheartened of late with the lack of volunteerism in people...the lack of caring and follow thru. It makes it tough to do my "jobs" in the Rescue with the right attitude...Don't get me wrong, there is NOTHING I would not do for Kentuckiana Pug Rescue. However, I get inspired when new people come on board and jump in. I am fed up with people who just want to SAY "I volunteer for _(fill in the blank_)". So what's the deal??? anyone? anyone at all? I am so willing/able to hear the answer to WHY DON'T MORE PEOPLE WANT TO HELP???????? I mean really is it so tough to spend some time on a Sat or Sun at a Petco? to transport? to contribute a raffle item? to work an event? I know I sound like a whiner...and I do apologize. I am certainly NOT pointing at specific people I know..but rather at people in general. ok..enough...SOOOOOOORRRRRYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

on a happy note...for anyone who does not know...we are now up to ownership of 10 pugs. Amazing!!! never thought my hubby would go for THAT!!! LOL! She is an amazing little lovey pug who is still learning what living inside is all about. I can't imagine our herd without her. We only had her in the house about 2 days before we knew we could not let her go. She is 6, lived outdoors, has only 2 teeth left (after 2 dental surgeries), one valve does not work in her heart and she has some eye issues. In other words...she is PERFECT!

Right now the weather is perfect for some serious pug play in the newly cut back yard...thank you yard guys!!! so off we go to Romp and Stomp!!!!!

ps thanks for letting me vent!!!

  1. I think that pretty much sums things up about a lot of people. Then there are those of us who do all those things, are exhausted and just do more! That's why you have 10 Pugs!!!! Your a terrific, Pug loving gal! I am not sure how enthusiasm for volunteering unfolds. Maybe we're just born with it?

    I am jealous....with only 4 I feel SO DEPRIVED!

  2. hahahahah!!! Punchbugpug....I hear ya!! I do think it is something we are just born with!! I just feel that the last year especially we have lost volunteers...or maybe they moved on to other causes...and it has created such a hardship on the rescue as a whole. We want to help all the pugs we can! that is for sure!!! but our hands frequently get tied due to lack of funds or foster homes. It is heartbreaking to turn a pug away...and even though we "close" our doors periodically ...we still review each request for an incoming pug on a case by case basis and try to squeeze in "just one more"!!!!! I just need a pick me up I think!!!! and playing with our Circus usually does the trick! thanks for the support on my day of crankiness!!!

  4. I understand!!!! I feel the same frustration with the big event I'm on the board of directors for. My job is labor-intensive and requires lots of work before the event and on the event day. Can't tell you how discouraged I get when I'm running around on event day working my arse off and I look ever and see people sitting in their golf carts, chatting it up with their friends and having a cold one!

  6. Aww, Polly looks so much better than when I rescued her from Wagina! She is truly blossoming under your love and care, Annie! And that dress is just ADORABLE!

I can't imagine the stress you're under, but I get annoyed and frustrated too by the dwindling number of volunteers. I understand that not everyone can foster and not everyone can donate financially and not everyone can work all the events (heck I sometimes fit in those categories); BUT everyone can do at least one thing. And tons of people doing just one thing will accomplish a LOT of things.

I do a handful of things and wish I could do more. But at least I can look at Apollo and say, I'm doing what I can and that's all that can be asked of me. The same goes for you, Annie! You do work your behind off and there are so many Pugs who have you to thank for their lives. But you're only one person and can do only so much. And you're so appreciated for all the much that you do do.

Btw, Mei-Ling went to her forever home on Sunday. We miss her so much, but are glad that she's in a home where she will be loved and spoiled. The lady probably thinks I'm crazy because I left her with a wardrobe, toys, food, glucosamine, about $100 worth of treats, about $100 worth of chewy things, leash, harness, collar, bedding, etc. I just couldn't help it. She's out in the country with the nearest pet store being 70 miles away. With Mei-Ling's food allergies, I wanted to make sure she had tons of "safe" food, chews, treats that she could get her by until her new Mom could buy some. Sean said the lady had this bewildered look on her face. Whoops. What can I say - it was my first time being a foster Mom... :)
